Tina
Haskim runs The Little House of Yoga (
www.thelittlehouseofyoga.com ) in
Parry Sound
,
Ontario
. President and yoga instructor Tina Haskim tells
the Financial Post what motivated
her to become an entrepreneur.
Full
circle: “I left Parry Sound for college in
St. Catharines
and worked in
Toronto
and
Australia
, before returning to
my hometown.”
Sportive:
“I’ve always been active, playing hockey, basketball, being a
cross-country runner. As I became more focused on keeping others active
and fit and doing that right, I went through for my personal trainer’s
certificate.”
Eureka
: “While in
Australia
I took yoga classes
and so loved them I learned how to instruct others.”
Empowerment:
“Living in a small town, I took the plunge and started up the first yoga
business. Last year I advertised in the local newspapers and distributed
flyers. Microsoft’s Office Live made it easy for me to put up a web
site. Word of mouth did the rest, and classes are burgeoning.”
A
good place: “It’s gratifying for me to see my students enjoy the
physical movement and stillness of yoga, and the serenity of soul it
brings. I get people to focus on their feelings, experience calm, and they
get to do that here in the House. Facilitating that process for others is
very satisfying.”
