Nathalie
LeClair and Serge Mimeault run Studio des Verriers du Richelieu (www.studiodesverriers.com).
Located in
Richelieu
,
Quebec
, the firm specializes in customized glassworks. Nathalie
LeClair tells
the Financial Post what motivated her to become an entrepreneur.
Romance,
and after: “I was a painter when I met Serge. We dated, and travelled
together. He worked with glass, understanding very well its properties. I
began to paint on glass, to explore it as a canvas. I fell in love with
Serge, and then, with the creative possibilities of glass.”
Skill
and imagination: “We create custom orders in ‘slumping glass’, flat
glass that is heated until it’s soft as gel, permitting it to fill or to
be shaped around our molds. We work with architects, designers, and
engineers to make furnishings, partitions, floors, light fixtures,
doors—anything you can imagine—all from glass.”
Wonderful
growth: “We’ve completed and delivered on ground-breaking projects from
a towering glass climbing wall to a 20 feet high
hourglass, that even tells the right time!”
Prestigious:
“Recently, we became a member of Économusée, a
network of artisans in
Quebec
and Atlantic Canada, where each business member
practices a traditional trade or craft.”
Joy:
“People bring us ideas, and we work to expand or refine them. Each project
is different. Each idea can bring forth from glass a unique and astonishing
creation.”
