Irene
Lee founded Froyo Swirl ( www.froyoswirl.com ). Located in
Vancouver
, Froyo Swirl is a retail business that sells a new
yogurt treat. Irene Lee tells the
Financial Post what motivated her to
become an entrepreneur.
Flying
high: “I grew up in
Vancouver
and for a while, I
worked for Cathay Pacific as an airline stewardess. Wanting more control
over my life and schedule, I hit upon the idea of opening my first business
venture.”
Nails
that gleam: “With my savings, I opened a shop in Vancouver called the Pure
Nail Bar, offering women a smart place to have their nails done, or get a
pedicure. The idea was a hit, and using the profits, I opened more shops. I
have even franchised.”
New
venture: Recently, while travelling in
New York
and
Los Angeles
, I was amazed by the
line-ups for a new taste sensation, a tart and tangy treat made from yogurt.
I decided it’s something we needed in
Vancouver
, so I opened Froyo
Swirl. ”
Slimming:
“This frozen yogurt is lower in calories, and it’s served with a variety
of toppings, everything from fresh fruit to granola. We also offer smoothies.”
Curiosity
and adventure: “I’m always scouting for new business ideas that I can
introduce in
Vancouver
. It’s just the way
my mind works.”
