Andy
Talbot is CEO of Lighthaus Logic ( www.lighthauslogic.com ). Based in
Vancouver
, the firm adds intelligence to video surveillance
systems, permitting them to strategically gather information. Andy Talbot tells
the Financial Post what motivated him to become an entrepreneur.
Team
sport: “Growing up in
England
, I loved technology
and studied to be an electronics engineer. As my career developed, I began
creating successful start-ups. There’s great satisfaction in assembling teams
of highly motivated people to form a company.”
Revolution
in surveillance: “I’ve worked developing high performance computers,
voice over Internet, and high definition video. Right now, we’re using
all those technologies, plus our expertise.”
The
always-alert eye: “Our technology can be programmed so the camera makes
‘choices’, permitting it to gather relevant information in real time.
For example, the camera might look for speeding cars in a tunnel, rather
than bicycles. For outdoor surveillance, the camera might look for people,
while ignoring small wildlife.”
Application:
“We’ve targeting retailers right now and we have executives from GAP
and Best Buy on our board. Most large retail stores already have
surveillance systems, and our technology is compatible with them.”
Passion-driven:
“Developing and deploying cutting-edge technology is my passion. And the
best ideas for new applications have come from our customers.”
